6th Graders

Here's a helpful tool for all of you so when you are working with integers you can check your work to see how you are doing.
I hope you all have a great rest of the week!

7th Graders

Hello again!
Remember we have a project due this Thursday Feb. 23rd, 2012. Don't leave it until the last minute to start working on it. Remember time is precious and we must learn to organize ourselves and set our priorities straight. Every subject is equally important, which is you must be able to dedicate the same amount of quality time to each of them.

I encourage everyone to practice on a daily basis for 10 to 15 minutes in order to keep your knowledge fresh.

The extra credit I gave out today is not mandatory. If you wish to apply for the extra credit, those worksheets are due next Tuesday Feb. 28th, 2012. Remember it must be as clean, neat and organize as possible.

I hope you all have a great rest of the week!

7th grade - Ratios

RATIOS tell how one number is related to another number.
A ratio may be written as A:B or A/B or by the phrase "A to B".
A ratio of 1:5 says that the second number is five times as large as the first.
The following steps will allow determination of a number when one number and the ratio between the numbers is given.
Example: Determine the value of B if A=6 and the ratio of A:B = 2:5
  • Determine how many times the number A is divisible by the corresponding portion of the ratio. (6/2=3)
  • Multiply this number by the portion of the ratio representing B (3*5=15)
  • Therefore if the ratio of A:B is 2:5 and A=6 then B=15

6th grade - Understanding percent - Simplifying fractions (practice)

To all 6th graders:
This is an excellent way for you to practice at home on simplifying fractions. It is very important that you understand this concept to a 100% since you will be using it a LOT as we move on. Make sure you do your best!

NOTE: If you wish to apply for extra credit, you must copy these exercises in a word document, print it out, solve, and hand it to me by Monday February 6th.
