6th and 7th grade homework for tomorrow Wednesday September 19th, 2012
6th graders:
Multiplying and Dividing integers:
Remember that whenever I have the same sign while multiplying and dividing, my answer will always be positive, and whenever I have different signs, my answer will always be negative:
Your homework for tomorrow is to determine whether your answer will be positive or negative, and then give an example of each:
a) positive ÷ positive =
b) negative x positive =
c) positive x positive =
d) negative ÷ negative =
e) negative ÷ positive =
f) positive x positive =
g) positive ÷ negative =
h) negative x negative =
Remember that all homework must be turned in during homeroom period, and it must be on a separate paper.
Have a great afternoon!
7th graders:
Hello all!
Yesterday we explained two different ways to add and subtract fractions. The first method (first example shown here) is working with the LCD (Least Common Denominator), as for the second method, it is working with the GCF at the end to simplify. Remember the cute butterfly?
The exercises for tomorrow are:
Ex. 1 - 3, 18, 19 p. 68
Find the LCD for each pair of fractions:
1) 1/2, 1/10
2) 1/3, 1/5
3) 1/4 + 1/14
Use a common denominator to find each sum or difference:
18) 2/15 - 1/10
19) 3/10 - 11/15
Ex. 31, 32 p. 69
Solve each equation for x when a = 1/2, b = 1/3, and c = 1/4. Write each answer in simplest form:
31) a + x = 3
32) 2 1/6 + x = -b
Remember you must show your work and that all homework must be turned in during homeroom period and on a separate paper.
Have a great afternoon!
