7th grade homework for tomorrow Wednesday September 12th, 2012

7th graders
Remember that when solving an equation, the idea is to isolate (leave completely alone) the variable. In order for you to do so, you must work with the inverse operation at all times. Also, please remember that homework is meant to be done on a separate paper.

Here is the homework for tomorrow, see you all tomorrow!

1.) When is a value a solution to an equation?

Which property of equality does each equation illustrate?
2.) 24/4 = 8(3)
3.) 36 + (-10) = 4(9) + (-10)
4.) 8(-7) = (-56/-7)(-7)
5.) -5(6) - 13 = -30 - 13

For each equation, find whether -5 is a solution:
6.) 25v = -5
7.) 15/m = -3
8.) 10 = -2t
9.) -5p = 25
10.)7 = 35/w
11.) -45/z = -9
