7th grade project due Friday January 18th, 2013
n order for us to review what we learned during our first semester, we are going to complete a project which will be due the following Friday (January 18th).
The project:
- You will have 30 exercises in total (the first 10 exercises you will find them in this post).
- You must work on white paper.
- Remember to work with PENCIL.
- Do not print the exercises, you must write them down. (We always copy instructions)
- I will be grading how neat, clean, organized your project is, along with your work (process and answers)
- You may use colors to underline ONLY the number of the exercise.
I'm confident you will all do great :)
First 10 exercises:
1. An animal shelter purchases dog food for $15.98 per bag. Use the Distributive Property to find how much the shelter will pay for 4 bags of dog food.
2. A fishing boat sets its net 37ft below the ocean's surface. Then it lowers the net an additional 16.5ft. Write an expression to represent the new depth of the net.
3. Four picture frames cost $5.98 each. Which would you use to find the total cost- mental math or paper and pencil? Explain your choice
4. Twice as many students go to the park than to the theater. Five more students go to the theater than to the museum. If 16 students go to the park, how many students go to the museum?
5. The lowest recorded temperature in Australia was -9F. The lowest recorded temperature in North America was -81F. Which continent has the lower recorded temperature>
6. Kai has $315 in her bank account. She withdraws $65 for a new jacket and another $13 for lunch with her friends. She deposits $26. What is the balance in Kai's account?
7. A store sells bicycle for $250 each. In one week the store had $1,250 in bicycle sales. How many bicycles did the store sell?
8. Students are cleaning a local park in groups. There are 50 boys and 75 girls. Each group has the same number of boys and the same number of girls. What is the greatest possible number of groups?
9. The cafeteria has 144 bananas, 36 pears, and 72 apples. Each student gets the same number of pieces of each fruit. What is the greatest number of students who can receive fruit?
10. Erika worked from 4:55P.M. to 5:30 P.M Maria worked two-thirds of an hour. Who worked longer?
